SPEAKER: Seyi Oshinowo, MBA, PMP
With nearly a decade working in Project / Program Management and Operations, Mr. Seyi Oshinowo is now working as the Strategic Program Manager at Meta. Seyi holds a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Communication at University of Washington and graduated Cum Laude among his class.  He then received his MBA at the University of California, San Diego - Rady School of Management. Out of the office, he is an advocate serving the community and providing resources for others, especially the youth. Currently, he volunteers with Project Management Institute - SF Bay Area Chapter, and is a Big Brother in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program.

DESCRIPTION:
Why do some projects deliver lasting value—while others check every box but fail to stick? This session explores the hidden architectural factors that separate short-term delivery from long-term success. You’ll learn how to spot architectural gaps before they become project risks, connect your project to the bigger picture, and create reusable artifacts that outlive go-live. Drawing on insights from the latest global EA research, we’ll show why architecture is not just for IT—and how PMs can leverage architectural thinking to drive strategy, avoid rework, and realize benefits that matter. Whether you’ve worked with EA frameworks or not, you’ll leave with five critical questions every PM should ask before starting a project—and practical tools to increase your impact. Bonus: Hear how the launch of the AEA Hawaii Chapter is bringing together local PMs and architects to change how we deliver value across the enterprise.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Identify the unseen architectural decisions that often shape project success or failure—before they become risks.
  2. Distinguish between tactical delivery and strategic alignment, and learn how to bridge the gap using lightweight EA practices.
  3. Apply five essential pre-project questions to ensure clarity, traceability, and value realization from day one.
  4. Recognize common anti-patterns, like one-and-done documentation or disconnected business logic, that undermine reuse and benefit tracking.
  5. Explore how project managers can partner with enterprise architects to co-create durable, adaptable solutions—regardless of formal EA training.
