What do I have to do?

Just like any job:

  • Sign up for a volunteer role. 
  • Get trained on your role.
  • Show up on time.
  • Perform your tasks.
  • And, we'd like your feedback.

How many hours must I commit?

We're completely flexible.  There are roles with specific tasks you can do on your own time.  Other roles are on a strict schedule requiring your presence during the event at a set time and duration.

Volunteer Positions for PDD

Speaker Selection Committee (5)

  • Review speaker applications as part of a team to select speaker line-up
  • Gain giving back PDUs

Pre-Event Volunteers

  • Swag giveaway coordination
  • Planning committee
  • Speaker selection committee (see above and below)
  • Conference App support

On-Site Volunteers

  • Registration
  • Logistics
  • Conference App support

Moderators (on-site)

  • Support speaker at session i.e. field Q&A
  • Introduce session and speaker incl bio
  • Event announcements
  • Answer audience inquiries
  • Gain educational PDUs for each session supported + giving back PDUs

Videographers (on-site)/Video Editors

  • Receive training from Olelo Community Media how to record video
  • Support Olelo staff for set up at event and breakdown at end
  • Receive training from Olelo how to edit recorded video for cablecast on public cablevision
  • Edit videos
  • Gain educational PDUs for each video edited or recorded + giving back PDUs

 

Speaker Selection Team

Expected number of volunteers = 5

As part of this team, you’ll help review speaker applications, shape the program, and ensure a dynamic mix of sessions. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in event planning and prepare for future leadership roles within the chapter.

Volunteer Coordinator

Are you ready to take your volunteer experience to the next level? Join us as a Volunteer Coordinator for our upcoming Professional Development Day!  

In this role, you’ll work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator Lead and VP of Programs to manage all PDD volunteers. It’s a fantastic opportunity to build leadership skills and grow into a Leadership Track Role—potentially leading to a high-level committee position or even a future candidacy for the Board of Directors.

This role is intended to continue beyond PDD, offering ongoing opportunities for growth and involvement—if you choose to stay engaged.

You’ll be mentored by Audrey Jewell, our Volunteer Coordinator Lead. Audrey has been a dedicated PMI Hawaii member since 2011 and brings a wealth of experience, including:

  • 6 years on the Chapter Board as Communications Director and Membership Director
  • 2 years as an alternate for Special Projects (PDD) and Membership to fill vacancies
  • Committee member for the current Chapter Bylaws
  • Current Publicity Director 

With Audrey’s guidance, you’ll gain the knowledge and confidence to lead teams and contribute meaningfully to the chapter’s future.
