Professional Development Day Volunteers

Why Volunteer?

  • Earn Giving Back PDUs.
  • Certificate of Appreciation signed by Chapter President as documentation for PDU claim. 
  • Gain experience on supporting an event you can apply towards your career track as an individual.
  • Start your Leadership path track towards developing as as a Leader within PMI.
  • Meet and work with chapter leaders as well as the individual professionals and companies contributing to the event.
  • FREE ticket to PDD for volunteers who qualify (lead role, sufficient hours, on-site)

What do I have to do?

Just like any job:

  • Sign up for a volunteer role. 
  • Get trained on your role.
  • Show up on time.
  • Perform your tasks.
  • And, we'd like your feedback.

How many hours must I commit?

We're completely flexible.  There are roles with specific tasks you can do on your own time.  Other roles are on a strict schedule requiring your presence during the event at a set time and duration.

Volunteer Positions for PDD

Speaker Selection Committee (5)

  • Review speaker applications as part of a team to select speaker line-up
  • Gain giving back PDUs

Pre-Event Volunteers

  • Swag giveaway coordination
  • Planning committee 
  • Speaker selection committee (see above and below) 
  • Conference App support

On-Site Volunteers

All on-site volunteers who work a minimum of half-day may qualify for a FREE ticket to PDD!

  • Registration
  • Logistics
  • Conference App support

Moderators (on-site)

  • Support speaker at session i.e. field Q&A
  • Introduce session and speaker incl bio
  • Event announcements
  • Answer audience inquiries
  • Gain educational PDUs for each session supported + giving back PDUs

Videographers (on-site)/Video Editors

  • Receive training from Olelo Community Media how to record video
  • Support Olelo staff for set up at event and breakdown at end
  • Receive training from Olelo how to edit recorded video for cablecast on public cablevision
  • Edit videos
  • Gain educational PDUs for each video edited or recorded + giving back PDUs

I'm not a PMI Hawaii Chapter member. Can I volunteer?

Yes! We welcome external volunteers on a case-by-case basis. Apply via the website. Keep in mind that we will always give first preference to chapter volunteers because this is considered to be a member benefit. Connect with the Volunteer Coordinator to find out why this is so.

How do I get my PDUs for volunteering?

Easy!  Log your own hours of volunteering. Include time spent in meetings and discussions with your Lead as well as actual hours of working. Submit a request for documentation to support your volunteer hours with your Lead or Volunteer Coordinator. They will provide you with a Certificate of Appreciation as proof. Volunteer hours are Giving Back PDUs. Report as usual in your My.PMI.Org.
