Session Description:

Successful project leaders know that one size does not fit all. This workshop helps participants identify and apply leadership styles best suited to their project’s context, team composition, and stakeholder environment. Using practical scenarios, attendees will learn to choose between directive, participative, supportive, and achievement-oriented approaches, adapting their leadership behaviors to different challenges. The workshop emphasizes situational awareness and personal reflection to strengthen project team outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

Describe major project leadership styles (e.g., directive, participative, supportive, achievement-oriented) and their core principles.
Assess which leadership approach best fits a project’s context, team maturity, and stakeholder environment.
Determine when switching between styles is necessary when leading projects and project teams

Speaker: Scott Springer, EdD, PMP

Scott is an associate professor of business management, a project management professional, a business communication consultant, a trainer, and a researcher. Scott teaches university courses in project management, management, business communication, and human resources. As an experiential-learning instructor, Scott's goal is to make his workshops as hands-on and discussion-oriented as possible. Prior to becoming a university professor, Scott led global teams of project managers in the academic publishing industry.
